Things You Should Know About Healthcare Providers

Not all healthcare providers are unpleasant. Most take their job serious and care about what they do. But, for other this is a job that brings home the bacon. For the ones that do care there are other factors such as understaffing and pressure to get reports and other things done. I do believe there are a few if not most healthcare providers that get into the business because of the stability of income. No other profession is needed like healthcare professionals. In the medical field, when you are dismissed for whatever reason, layoffs, relocation or cutback of hours, you can always find another job in the healthcare industry. The good providers are aware of bad patient care, but will not speak up due to fear of jeopardizing their jobs. Seek second or even third opinions. Watch what they are doing, ask questions and if you have concerns about procedures that are not made available to you, follow up with supervisors or the charge nurse. Healthcare providers are told to introduce themselves and their department and explain every procedure. Also watch what you are being billed for. I witnessed stickers being pulled off supplies and patients not using or needing them.

As I review this problem, I see this as blame for the upper management, and department heads who collect big salaries without addressing the problem. All too often they do not get involved because they are not the patient or it’s not there family members. Spot checks can be done during all shifts, face it, employees can do two things, make or break the business. I once had a boss tell me I was too personal and took too long with the patients. Patient care comes first …. they are the business.
