MEMRA SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

MEMRA wants you to pursue your educational dreams of obtaining a college degree. Whether you are a grammar student, high school student, a first time college student or an adult returning back to school to obtain a higher educational degree or technical certification you may qualify for the Memra Scholarship Program. We thank you for taking the time to find out more about the Memra Education Scholarship Award and submitting your application.

Overview

MEMRA established an Education Scholarship Award Program in honor of the father of the founding officer. The purpose of the program is to make possible for the parents of community children to have access to funds for education purposes that are otherwise unattainable. The scholarship funds are to help students with books, tuition/registrations fees, training materials, uniforms or whatever is needed to continue with their education.

Targeted Recipients for Scholarships

Any full time student up to 24 years of age and enrolled in an education program, plus in good standing is eligible to apply for the scholarship program. The parents of the student/recipients must be experiencing a medical or financial hardship. The following preferences will be given to the selecting scholarship recipients:

Acceptable Usage, Conditions, and Eligibility of Scholarships

Those interested in applying shall complete the Scholarship Application. All questions must be answered completely and all supporting documentation must be included. Any incomplete or inaccurate information will void your application. If you are selected as one of the recipients, MEMRA will issue a check (payable to the student) along with a cover letter announcing all the winners of the $250.00 scholarship award.

Scholarships must be used for educational purposes or other activities in which the primary goal is to advance skills and effectiveness in education. Please complete the application and the following questions below; please be as specific as possible in your responses to be eligible for the scholarship award.

  • What educational program will this scholarship be used for?
  • Which individual(s) will benefit from this scholarship?
  • How will the student benefit from this scholarship?
  • What is the dollar amount you are requesting?
  • Will the scholarship cover the entire cost of the education request?
  • Is there an additional source of funding?

Amount and Timeline of 2009 Scholarships

For the 2009 fiscal year, MEMRA will award two (2) scholarships of up to $250.00 each, (payable to the student). Interested students should submit their application to MEMRA no later than August 28, 2009 to be considered for the two (2) 2009 scholarships. A cover letter announcing the winners of the $250.00 scholarship award will appear in the Quarterly Newsletter and on the website.
